These new paintings explore city scenes: the relationship between interior and exterior spaces, between structured and natural forms, between individuals and their connection to the surroundings.

I explore the idea of place as a source of meaning. The figures in the environments suggest a narrative, but the viewer is allowed to fill in the story. The environments go beyond mere context because, like a portrait, they describe a character, a history, and a purpose.

Let the paintings speak for itself, I hope you will be able to join me at the opening. The show will hang through the month of November.

Congatulations on your exhibition. The work is excellent and quite 'painterly', which is a breath of fresh air for us photorealists. (I assume you consider yourself a photorealist). It also has a strong emotional quality, albeit some of the works were of sadness and loneliness.

No, I would not consider my artwork photorealism at all -

In my artwork, mood is emphasized and I embellish the qualities of paint far too much.
